Across the city of Jambi pledged Heritage Area
JAMBI – Across the city of Jambi (Sekoja) will become the cultural preservation area, because Sekoja boundary by Batanghari River has many historical and cultural heritage values of the past that require special attention to develop and preserve its existence.
“Currently we are doing the studies through a partnership between the Provincial and City Government of Jambi and Archaeological Heritage Preservation (BP3),” said Chairman of the Evaluation Team Formation Sekoja Heritage Area, Junaidi T Noor in Jambi, Friday (2 / 1).
According to Junaidi who is also the Governor of Jambi’s expert staff, the review now underway by mapping the areas and sites of cultural heritage objects, attitudes or culture of the local community, through assistance and training provided to community culture, and cultural attractions.
“Anyway it will be a cultural icon and tourist Jambi, each related department will participate in it will build together,” he added. The assessment was done thoroughly, so that later when the region began to set into cultural preservation is not a problem, and the community was ready to accept and support it.
The reason why Jambi provincial government will make Sekoja into cultural preservation area originated from the initiative and direction provided by Jambi Governor H Zulkifli Nurdin, because Sekoja have aesthetic values and cultural history of Jambi.
For example the entry of the first Muslim to Jambi through Sekoja region, the interaction of trade from Arabia, China and India, so in Sekoja until now there is the name of the Arabic malays village, and the Chinatown are closely related with China’s entry of people who trade and the worship of idols in Sekoja in the past. Until now, there are still many buildings, old houses and mosques with the relief of Arab and China, the tombs of sheikhs, inscriptions and other historical relics sites in Sekoja made of wood and cement.
Kota Seberang Jambi is in Pelayangan District and the Danau Teluk District, has 11 villages, and a native of the Arab villages of Jambi Malays, as well as typical Jambi batik handicraft center located in The Village Modung Laut.
That potential will be developed to increase the incomes of local people’s welfare, so that each department and related agencies should be synergistic, such as for the development of handicrafts is the duty of the Industry and Trade.
Physical construction of roads to support the tourism sector is the responsibility of the Office of Settlement and Regional Infrastructure (Infrastructure), and the promotion of tourism and cultural object submitted to the Department of Culture and Tourism, and the preservation of cultural heritage objects managed BP3 Jambi.
