FOREST HONEY JAMBI “Al-Mubarak”

“There’s a will there is a way, so the sentence is expressed by Candra Lela (34), a fairly successful entrepreneurs develop business Forest Honey (Apis dorsata). Thanks to his perseverance “hunting” and collecting forest honey, now labeled his efforts, Al-Mubarak, more fluttering.

She and her husband Budiarto (35), which served as air traffic controller at Jambi Airport tried to open their own business. Previously he only worked with his brother in Jakarta, as a supplier of forest honey. Every week he only sent about 600 Kilogram honey to Jakarta. However, since the year 2009 and till now he makes his own packaging in a bottle.

All this time Candra get honey supplies from the forests of the jungle in the district of Eastern and Western Tanjung Jabung. Not easy to get honey, therefore, he must first make a survey to find the nests of bees in the forests. After finding a nest of honey, then he still must find builders who used to pick up honey through climbing to get the nests. Climbing builders paid the price of IDR 22000 per kilogram. Usually in a beehive with a diameter of one meter square that produce about 60 kilograms of honey.

But it did not always run smoothly. Because often the case, he had to scramble to the big sellers of honey that damage the market, who buy honey with a high price to the artisans of climb, and then sell the honey to the State singapore. Another obstacle is often the bottle packaging that we use are not available in the market.

According to Candra, before the honey is packaged, processed first. According to the Indonesian National Standard (SNI), the honey water level should be 18 percent. Meanwhile, a new honey taken from the nest contains about 26 percent water content, so the water level should be reduced. The process of reducing its water content it takes about four days, because they still use traditional ways.

If the water level had reached 18 percent, is inserted into the bottle and a half kilogram-sized packages, for now the business was named Al-Mubarak, which means the family business, and has picked up licenses from the City Health Office of Jambi.

Marketing issues raise while beside to marketing to Jakarta, for Jambi, marketing still only among people who understand the health that comes directly to our homes and through the reservation. The price of honey has been packed sold at a price of Rp. 50 000.

In the future he plans to jambi forest honey packaging, can be used as souvenirs by guests who come to the province of Jambi. To that end, he expects the support and assistance from local governments. (Boy)
