Mayarizka Chandra (Third Runner Up Miss Jambi Tourism 2011) : Tourism and Culture Jambi

Based on folklore jambi, jambi name comes from “jambe” which means “pinang”. The name is there a relationship with a living legend in the community, that is the legend about the King Putri Selaras Pinang Masak, which is related to the origin of Jambi province.
The original inhabitants of Jambi province consists of several tribes, among others  melayu jambi, Batin, Kerinci, Penghulu, Pindah, Anak dalam (kubu) and Bajau. The oldest is the Kubu tribe, as has long been settled in advance before the arrival of another tribe. They thought the soldiers Minangkabau descent who intend to expand the area of regional to jambi. There’s also assume that the tribal stronghold of a mixture of tribes and tribal Wedda Negrito (weddoid).
At first rural community to wear a sleeveless dress fabric. But after experiencing the process of acculturation to different cultures and also influenced by Islamic religious culture, everyday clothing worn woman of baju kurung and scarf wrapped around his head as a head covering called kuluk. Kuluk itself has very many varieties and each has its own meaning kuluk. Example kuluk: Ketalang Petang, Tegedeng, Kipas, Muaro Jambi
While the men wore trousers half calf half a bulging vertebra and usually black. Apparel men equipped with a kopiah.
Art in Jambi Province is famous for its music Rabana betel and tari Sekapur Sirih , Selampit Delapan, Rangguk etc. Foreword dance in the show when it welcomes guests who are great in Jambi province.
